Graphene Oxide-Assisted Aptamer-Based Fluorescent Detection of Tetracycline Antibiotics

Tetracyclines are a group of common antibiotics, but owing to their toxicity, most them only used in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. A DNA aptamer for tetracyclines has recently been reported. Upon binding, the fluorescence was enhanced. This unique enhancement selectively detect tetracyclines. The purpose this study use graphene oxide (GO) suppress background enhanced detection. First, adsorption doxycycline on GO studied. At pH 8.0, 82.7% adsorbed by GO, adding 2 µM desorbed 55.4% doxycycline. With signal increase comparable from 6 8, whereas without significantly lower at 8. Under optimized condition, detection limit 1.6 nM achieved 8.0 presence 18.9 nM. is an interesting example nanomaterials enhance performance aptamer-based biosensors.
